Tanzania’s national airline, Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL), had added to its fleet, a new Boeing 737 MAX 9 with seating capacity of 181 passengers of which 16 are in Business Class and 165 in Economy Class.
Launched a few days ago, the Dar es Salaam to Dubai flights have added more frequencies between East Africa and the United Arab Emirates, bringing to a total of 174 weekly schedule flights from about 14 airports to Abu Dhabi (AUH), Dubai International (DXB) and Sharjah (SHJ).
The airline’s managing director Mr. Ladislaus Matindi said that Mr. Matindi added that the route is important because of its significance in business relations between Tanzania and Gulf states. ATCL will operate the flights every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
The launch of the new destination to the most populous city in the UAE and a center of regional and international trade demonstrates ATCL’s commitment to international markets that foster increased business and leisure travel opportunities for customers, Mr. Matindi said.
Launched flights to Dubai is part of the Tanzanian airline’s strategy to connect Tanzania to major global markets.
“As part of our strategy to increase the range of travel, we are pleased to join the world’s major airlines in facilitating flights to Dubai because it is a long-term strategy that expands the range of travel and provides more options for our passengers,” he said.
There are a total of 17 weekly flights from Tanzania to the United Arab Emirates.
Flydubai is the third carrier flying between the 25 countries with daily flights from Dubai to Zanzibar with the 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
With the launching of its new service to UAE, Air Tanzania has become the second airline operating passenger flights from Dar es Salaam to Dubai.
Etihad is expected to resume the Abu Dhabi to Nairobi flights next month (May) adding another connection between East Africa and the UAE.
Likewise, the Tanzanian national air carrier is expecting to extend its wings to Johannesburg in South Africa and London in the United Kingdom.
ATCL’s other target routes in the near future are Lagos in Nigeria, Kinshasa in Congo DRC and Juba in South Sudan.
