The Ljubljana Urban Region has already secured 102 million EUR in funding for European projects, more than half of which are grants, and its tap water shows the green and clean mindset the people of Slovenia have in their genes.
European tap water tasting
The international organization EurEau launched the first European tap water tasting, which also included water from the drinking fountain on Congress Square in the Slovak capital city. In Ljubljana, we drink water that requires no pre-treatment, which is a rare occurrence in Europe.
Vevče Swimming Pool Complex
On 20 July 2025, Ljubljana opened the renovated Vevče Swimming Pool Complex. With the renovated Vevče Swimming Pool Complex, a previously brownfield area along the Ljubljanica River has been developed into another recreational center in the city.
The renovation of Čufar Street is complete.
Following the complete renovation of the section of Čufar Street between Miklošič Street and Reselj Street in 2023, we have now concluded the renovation of the remaining stretch, from Reselj Street to Kotnik Street. Čufar Street is now fully pedestrianized, enhancing the quality of life in the area and improving traffic safety. As part of the renovation, we also installed a new drinking fountain and several sprinklers to help cool the area during hot summer days.

What is TEO Ljubljana?
Ljubljana is planning to build a state-of-the-art facility for energy utilization of waste ̶ a new, independent facility for the simultaneous production of heat and electricity. During construction, we will adhere to the strictest criteria for protecting human health and the environment.
A new information center, Infotujci, in Ljubljana
The Infotujci (Infoforeigners) information centre, intended for third-country nationals who study, work, or are starting a family in Slovenia, has opened its doors at Tržaška cesta 21 in Ljubljana under the auspices of the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants.
70th anniversary of the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts
The 36th Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts – Oracle: On Fantasy and Freedom will run from 12 September to 12 October 2025 at several venues in the city, marking its 70th anniversary.
Every artistic and cultural event is also an oracle, a place where people can think and reflect on how to create the common good, and how to realize a good life based on shared values. All but two of the works were designed specifically for the biennale and will therefore be on display for the first time this year.
