INDIA (eTN) – India and the US are to set up a joint working group to explore greater productive cooperation in the civil aviation sector between the two countries.

This was decided today, April 8, during a high-level delegation visit to India from the US. Prospects of “Made In India” plans were also discussed.

The present talks are a follow-up of talks between President Obama and Prime Minister N. Modi held earlier.

In another significant development, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India has been upgraded and granted Category 1 status by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the US.

This step was anticipated by India, for which the DGCA was revamped in order to be considered to achieve this status.
