Lufthansa: Not Safe to Fly to Iran now – Flights Cancelled

THR

The US State Department warns of an imminent attack by Iran on Israel. Lufthansa is the first airline cancelling flights from FRA to THR.

Although it is not visible on the Lufthansa press page, the German national carrier stopped its service to Teheran, Iran, as of today, and it will continue until the security situation becomes clear.

As of September 2023, Lufthansa increased its frequency between Frankfurt and Teheran to offer daily flights operated on an A330 or A340. The product is in three classes. The flight time is about 5 hours.

Swiss and Austrian Airlines are part of the Lufthansa Group, but they seemed to be scheduled as usual.

Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport is certified as a 3-star Airport for facilities, comfort, cleanliness, shopping, food & beverages, staff service, security, and immigration.

Iran had indicated revenge after Israel bombed the consulate of the Islamic Republic in Damascus, Syria, last week.

“If Iran attacks from its territory, Israel will respond and attack Iran,” Israel’s foreign minister Katz said in his public post on X.

General Erik Kurilla, commander of the U.S. Central Command, is expected to meet Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and senior Israel Defense Forces officials on Thursday in Israel.

Israeli news reports the country is preparing for a possible direct attack from Iranian soil using ballistic missiles, drones, and cruise missiles against Israeli targets.

The security situation is, therefore, in a highly heated stage during the ongoing Eid holidays in the Islamic world.
