South Korea‘s budget airline Aero K has inaugurated a new route connecting Cheongju City to the central city of Da Nang in Vietnam.
Da Nang marks the first destination in Vietnam for Aero K, with daily flights scheduled between the two cities.
The inaugural flight took off from Cheongju at 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 5 and arrived in Da Nang at 00:45 a.m. the following day, with return service departing from Da Nang at 2:15 a.m. on the same day.
Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre, Mai Thi Thanh Hai, emphasized the significance of this new route in providing more travel options for both Korean and Vietnamese travelers, particularly during the upcoming Lunar New Year 2024 festivities.
To mark the occasion, a special welcome ceremony is planned for the 170 passengers on board the maiden Aero K flight from Cheongju to Da Nang.
South Korea stands as the primary international market for Da Nang tourism, with Korean cities contributing over half of the total daily international flights to the destination.
Da Nang International Airport anticipates a surge in arrivals during the Lunar New Year 2024, with an estimated 16% increase in flights compared to the previous year. The city expects to host nearly 362,000 visitors during the festive period, including approximately 172,000 foreigners, reflecting a 23% rise from the corresponding period last year.
