Putumayo.travel is the official tourist office/guide for the region of Putumayo situated in southwest Colombia on the border with Ecuador. They offer all kinds of information about the touristic places and also look forward to levelling up tourism in Putumayo.

.Travel: Who is putumayo.travel and where are you based?

Putumayo travel is a touristic website owned by us, InfoCASE Colombia, Ingeniería de Software, E.U. We are based in Florencia – Caquetá Colombia.

.Travel: Who is your target audience? What are their expectations when they visit your site? Are you an official guide or do you also sell tours and activities?

Our target audience is those whose passion is to travel and embrace nature and adventure. We want to offer them all the touristic information they need about Putumayo along with package tours and adventure activities such as abseiling, rappel, whitewater rafting, trekking, hiking, and so on.

.Travel: How would you describe your main business identity and what are your core values?

As I said before, InfoCASE Colombia, Ingeniería de Software, E.U., is a company committed to the development, appropriation and use of information technologies and communications in micro, small, medium and big companies, as well as supporting Research and Technological Development processes (I + D) and has been working for the strengthening and empowerment of the different sectors of the regional economies.

.Travel: Let’s talk about the type of tours and destinations that you promote on your site? Is Colombia, and more specifically Putumayo, a family friendly destination?

Putumayo is a department of Colombia. The word putumayo comes from the Quechua languages. The verb p’utuy means “to spring forth” or “to burst out,” and mayu means river. Thus, it means “gushing river.” The total area of this astonishing land is 24,885 km2. So, as you can see there is a lot to visit and to offer since its hydrography is absolutely amazing because of the rivers, the lakes and the waterfalls, its fauna and flora is unique and interesting, and its gastronomy is exquisite. What we do is integrate and create packages that are affordable and suitable for all types of tourists and age groups, including families.

.Travel: Can you describe in once sentence why travelers should visit Colombia and Putumayo in 2018?

If you want to create unforgettable memories, travel to Putumayo and hike to the “End of the World” waterfalls, for the trip of a lifetime.

.Travel: What trends and developments are impacting the tourism sector and your business today?

The principal trends that are impacting the tourism sector in our business are:

Ecotourism: We have now go from Conventional tourism to Ecotourism. Some experts estimate that ecotourism now represents 11.4% of all consumer spending. It is pretty important for millennials to keep the natural heritage well preserved as the key element for ecotourists, followed by the observation of flora/fauna, outdoor life experiences in protected natural areas, and the accommodation in the middle of nature

Adventure Tourism: It is raising fast in our market. Activities such as trekking, hiking, abseiling, canoeing, rappel, rafting, and zip-lining are now standing out in the tourism market.

.Travel: A successful tourism promotion strategy requires having an attractive and effective website. How does your website differentiate itself?

Our website is unique because of the essence of Putumayo and it has all the relevant information to cover all the requirements of visitors to the area, no matter their age and interests. We offer invaluable information.

.Travel: How and when did you find out about .travel and began to work with us?

We knew back then that .travel domains were very important to be recognized in the travel and tourism community. So, we didn’t stop to think about other options, we went straight to obtain our own .travel domain.

.Travel: Choosing the right domain/brand on the internet is the first step to online success. In your view, what are the main benefits that .travel domain offer to your website, your business and destination?

– The acknowledgment that gives to the business.
– The opportunity to define our tourism identity on the Internet.
– The possibility to make Putumayo known worldwide.
– To help with the growth of our company.
