On Friday afternoon, the Adora Magic City, China’s inaugural domestically constructed large cruise ship, reached its designated home port as per Chinese media reports, in order to make necessary arrangements for its first-ever voyage.

The Adora Magic City cruise ship docked at the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal at 3:40 pm.

Over 1,300 crew members from various regions of the globe have assumed their roles on the vessel, and the final phase of preparations is underway.

China’s first homegrown large cruise ship is set to commence its inaugural commercial journey on January 1, 2024. Initially, it will sail to Northeast Asia, with a subsequent launch of a route connecting China and Southeast Asia at a later time.

The Adora Magic City is specifically tailored for the Chinese market, with a capacity to hold a maximum of 5,246 passengers. This cruise ship will provide a wide range of authentic Chinese and international delicacies to cater to the diverse culinary preferences of its passengers.

According to the CSSC Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., the Adora Magic City has a length of 323.6 meters and a gross weight of 135,500 tons. It offers a total of 2,125 guest rooms and can accommodate up to 5,246 passengers.

The cruise ship has 16 floors and a total of 40,000 square meters of public living and recreation space.

The Adora Magic City’s owner, Adora Cruises Limited (formerly CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping) is a Chinese-American cruise line that was scheduled to begin operation in 2020, but was delayed due to global COVID-19 pandemic.
