When the starting signal is given for this year’s Tour de France on 1 July, the eyes of the world will be on Dusseldorf. For the first time in 30 years, the Grand Départ, lit. “great departure”, will once again be taking place in Germany.

airberlin will be flying cycling fans from all over the world to the famous Königsallee where the tour will be kicked off – with up to 181 take-offs and landings daily, airberlin is the largest airline at Dusseldorf airport. It offers excellent direct connections from the USA to Dusseldorf, as well as numerous connections within Europe and Germany.

Fans wishing to cheer on their winning team during the big finale on 23 July at the Champs-Élysées in Paris will benefit from airberlin’s closely-knit European route network. For example, there are two daily flights from Berlin-Tegel to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. Furthermore, there are also excellent connections for cycling fans from the USA. The launch and finale of the Tour de France will both take place during a weekend. Hence, fans wishing to secure their desired flight should book as soon as possible.

Bicycles on board

Fans who wish to not only watch the Tour de France, but also actively take part in some two-wheeled action will be glad to know that airberlin is also transporting bicycles to their destination.
