With airlines such as working for Lufthansa in a constant battle to get fair wages,Canadian airline Air Transat has happy flight attendants now earning 30% more.

The flight attendants of Air Transat have secured a fresh collective agreement, positioning them as the highest earners in the Canadian aviation industry. After attending information sessions between February 19 and 22, the flight attendants voted with a majority of 62.7% in favor of accepting the recommendation put forth by federal mediators. This newly approved contract entails a cumulative salary increase of 30% over a span of five years, specifically from November 1, 2022, to October 31, 2027.

Flight attendants with less than three years of seniority will have the first two salary levels abolished, allowing them to directly access the third level and enjoy a substantial salary increase.

Furthermore, this fresh collective agreement will ensure the allocation of crew seats on any flights with a duration of 7 hours or longer and on flights departing from Canada after 10 p.m. It will also enhance the quantity of personal leave days and vacation days.

After a lengthy and intricate journey, we are now reaching the end with significant salary hikes for our flight attendant members. This adjustment is truly well-deserved, considering the dedicated efforts to support the company during financial challenges, followed by the devastating pandemic years and a phase of soaring inflation, remarked Chantal Bourgeois, CUPE National Representative.

The Air Transat Component consists of two local unions situated at airports in Montreal (YUL) and Toronto (YYZ). It is a division within CUPE’s Airline Division, which advocates for over 18,500 flight attendants employed by various airlines including Air Transat, Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, Sunwing, WestJet, Encore, Calm Air, Canadian North, Pivot Airlines, Flair Airlines, PAL, and Pascan.
