The Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) has approved the construction of a new terminal at Pisa airport in Italy, thanks to the definitive approval of the “Galileo Galilei” Airport Development Plan 2014/2028.

At the end of the planned land reclamation operation, the construction of the new 6,200 square meter building and the redevelopment with expansion of the current terminal to finalize the setting up of the new area of over 12,000 square meters will proceed very quickly.

The plan envisages the implementation of these improvements in phases to allow the operational continuity of the airport which currently represents one of the top 10 Italian airports for traffic generated, with over 5.1 million certified passengers in 2023.

The overall investment is 80 million euros, and the works, which will last at least 2 years, have been entrusted to the in-house company, Toscana Costruzioni, made up of Toscana Aeroporti and Cemes. Toscana Costruzioni has experience in the construction of infrastructures and civil works in the railway, energy, airport, and construction sectors.

The CEO of Toscana Aeroporti, Roberto Naldi, commented:

“If we add to the 80 million of the master plan the over 100 million spent to date to encourage traffic, over 180 million euros have been invested in the development of the Pisan Airport since Toscana Aeroporti started its operation.

“These are essential investments to continue the airport offer which sees Pisa as a fundamental airport for the growth of the system.”

Pisa Airport and Florence Airport are both under management by Toscana Aeroporti S.p.A which was created on June 1, 2015, through the merger of SAT – Società Aeroporto Toscano S.p.A. (the management company of the Galileo Galilei airport of Pisa), and AdF – Aeroporto di Firenze S.p.A. (the management company of the Florence Amerigo Vespucci airport). ENAC is headquartered in Rome, Italy.
