Finnair is expanding its services for North American customers by introducing a range of new network-wide enhancements.

Finnair has recently announced its intentions to expand its services to the Norwegian town of Kirkenes starting from 1 April, 2025. This move comes as part of the airline’s ambitious plans for the upcoming year, with Kirkenes becoming its 27th destination in the Nordic region for the summer season. Notably, this new addition will surpass Tromsø, a Norwegian city that previously held the distinction of being Finnair’s most-northerly gateway.

Finnair is expanding its services for North American customers by introducing a range of new network-wide enhancements. Among these enhancements is the addition of a new Nordic destination located in remote Norway, which will be the airline’s most northerly destination.

Flights connecting Helsinki and Kirkenes will run thrice weekly, with a stopover in Ivalo, utilizing the airline’s 68-seat ATR72 regional plane, establishing it as the sole scheduled international flight to the airport. Located 400 miles north of the Arctic Circle and at the entrance of the Siberian Taiga, Kirkenes offers a blend of wild nature and the Arctic Ocean alongside a fascinating history.

Additionally, the airline will also be increasing the frequencies to its most popular destinations in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Travelers from the United States seeking convenient access to Europe will find Finnair’s growth advantageous, as more US flights are set to be introduced starting in October 2024.

Starting October 2024, direct flights from Dallas will be available daily, a significant increase from the four weekly flights offered last winter. This adjustment is in response to the growing demand from customers. This announcement coincides with the 50th anniversary of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, providing passengers with convenient connections through American Airlines, a fellow oneworld member.

Additionally, Finnair will resume its popular winter seasonal service from Miami to Helsinki in November 2024, offering three flights per week. This service will connect Florida with Northern Europe, catering to the needs of travelers in the region.

Pasi Kuusisto, Finnair General Manager North America, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “We are thrilled to enhance our services for our loyal customers in North America.”

“Our route from Dallas to Helsinki has proved extremely popular since its launch in 2022, so it is with great pleasure that we can announce daily flights from Texas.

“We know the return of our Miami route will also be welcomed by customers, giving Florida easy access to Northern Europe.

“The addition of flights to Kirkenes, one of Norway’s best kept secrets, and the increased frequencies added to our other Nordic destinations, makes now the best time to plan a European adventure.”

As part of the airline’s summer expansion, flights to Japan will also receive a boost, with the airline set to offer customers daily flights to both Tokyo Haneda and Tokyo Narita in summer 2025.

The upcoming summer will see the airline introducing a new route to Nagoya, with an additional weekly flight scheduled for 2025, providing customers with three weekly services to the Japanese city.

Finnair has expanded its flight offerings to various popular destinations in Europe, such as the Baltic capitals Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius.

Currently, the Finnish airline operates direct flights to Helsinki from six cities in North America – Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and Seattle.

All flights are strategically scheduled to facilitate seamless connections to the carrier’s wide-reaching European network, which includes 27 Nordic and four Baltic destinations.
