The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) has announced that Daniel Nāhoʻopiʻi will end his term as Interim President & CEO on March 21, 2025. According to HTA Bylaws, Caroline Anderson, the Interim Chief Administrative Officer, will take over the responsibilities of Interim President & CEO until the HTA Board appoints a new leader.

HTA Board Chair Mufi Hannemann commended Nāhoʻopiʻi for his leadership and expressed optimism for the organization’s future. “Daniel’s guidance has been crucial in steering HTA through a significant transformation with integrity and foresight,” stated Hannemann. “His dedication to sustainable tourism practices and community-focused strategies has made a profound impact.”
After serving 18 months as Interim President & CEO and holding various leadership positions within HTA for over a decade, Nāhoʻopiʻi will return to his passion for research, where he is internationally recognized as an authority in tourism intelligence. He will join JLL’s Global Tourism & Destination Advisory Group as the Lead for Industry Data and Research, leveraging his expertise in data-driven strategies to bolster destination resilience globally, collaborating with partners such as the World Trade & Tourism Council, Destinations International, the World Economic Forum, and various destinations around the world.
