TUMON, Guam – Nine international music artists are slated to perform at the inaugural Lotte Duty Free Guam Live International Music Festival next month at Paseo Stadium in Hagåtña, Guam.

TUMON, Guam – Nine international music artists are slated to perform at the inaugural Lotte Duty Free Guam Live International Music Festival next month at Paseo Stadium in Hagåtña, Guam. The two-day signature GVB music festival is set for June 6th and 7th and will feature pop, rock, reggae, hip-hop and island music performed by international artists from the United States, England, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Guam.

About the Artists

Sublime with Rome

Sublime is an American ska punk and reggae rock band from Long Beach, California, with hits “What I got” (#1 on Billboard Charts), “Santeria”, and “Wrong Way”. In 2009, the surviving members decided to reform the band with Rome Ramirez, a young guitarist and self-admitted Sublime fan from California, releasing Yours Truly in 2011 to critical acclaim, with the single “Panic” reaching #4 on Billboard’s Alternative song chart.

Matisyahu

Known for blending Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae, rock and hip hop beat boxing sounds, Matisyahu’s 2005 single “King Without a Crown” was a Top 40 hit and “One Day” was the theme song for the 2010 Winter Olympics. This Grammy nominated artist will be releasing a brand new album called Akeda on June 3 (available for pre-order on iTunes and amazon.com), just days before his performance at Guam Live!

Steel Pulse

Grammy award-winning reggae band Steel Pulse have been true to their roots for over 35 years. One of Bob Marley’s favorites, the band has maintained a sense of fierce integrity as it strives to get the message of love and justice across to all people.

Pia Mia

Pia Mia is a singer-songwriter, actress and model originally from Guam and currently living in Los Angeles, California. Beginning by posting videos of herself singing on video sharing site YouTube, Pia Mia has since starred in commercials and music videos, and has more recently released her own material. Gaining popularity for her cover of Drake’s 2013 single “Hold On, We’re Going Home”, Pia Mia has recently signed to Interscope Records, releasing an extended play entitled The Gift and being featured on the original soundtrack of the 2014 science fiction action film Divergent.

Brown Eyed Girls

Brown Eyed Girls is a 4-member South Korean pop girl group managed by Nega Network. They debuted as an R&B vocal group with the single “Come Closer” in 2006 and have since challenged themselves with a notable variety of music genres. The group won Best Dance & Electronic Album (Sound-G) and Song (Abracadabra) at the 2010 Korean Music Awards.

NU’EST

Urban Electro Band NU’EST stands for New, Establish, Style, and Tempo. Together the name represents “Creating a new style with music.” In an era abundant with K-pop groups, NU’EST has made their unique mark with their distinct color and style. NU’EST has five members: Baekho, Aron, Ren, JR, and Minhyun.

Home Made Kazoku

This hip-hop trio debuted in May 2004 and won acclaim as the best upcoming artist of the year in the Japanese music scene. Their song, “Thank You!!” was used as the second ending theme of the popular anime BLEACH in 2005 and became a sensational hit. They are currently signed to Ki/oon Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music.

Izah Blue

Izah Blue has been producing and performing original reggae music since the early 80’s. Originally from California, Izah Blue lives and produces music in Kansai, Japan.

Popu Lady

Popu Lady is a Taiwanese all-female group comprised of 5 members that debuted in 2012 with HIM International. Popu Lady is Ting Xuan, Hong Shi, Da Yuan, Bao Er and Yu Shan.

Guam Visitors Bureau and Guam Live sponsors invite music fans to Guam’s capital city of Hagåtña, which is experiencing revitalization through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) dollars. The Guam Live festival grounds will include Chamorro Village, Paseo Park and surrounding areas.
