Brief News Update
Written by Binayak Karki

To celebrate Hong Kong National Day, the nation will launch over 30,000 fireworks above Victoria Harbour at 9 pm on October 1. The display will last 23 minutes and include eight spectacular scenes. Fireworks will be launched from three barges and six pontoons, costing around HK$18 million.

On that night, residents in Tsim Sha Tsui, Mid-Levels, and Causeway Bay, among other areas, could enjoy the spectacular scenes. The fireworks display features eight acts said Wilson Mao, the director of Hong Kong Star Multimedia Production, who is in charge of the production.

He said this year’s Hong Kong National Day celebration display will see the barges launching fireworks. These fireworks will burst 250 meters above sea level. The pontoons, on the other hand, will launch fireworks that burst 100 meters above sea level. This arrangement will create better layering for the display.

The number of ships used during the show also symbolizes longevity, he added.
