A New Zealand tourist was brutally murdered in Australia.
A 28-year-old man has now been charged with the murder whose the New Zealand visitor, who was discovered at the base of high-rise apartments on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Gable Tostee was taken into custody shortly before noon and arrived in handcuffs at the Gold Coast watchhouse about 30 minutes later.
Police spokesman confirmed Mr Tostee had been was charged at 2.02pm with the murder of 26-year-old Warriena Tagpuno Wright.
He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday.
The 26-year-old tourist from New Zealand died a week ago allegedly in a fall from a 14th floor balcony at Avalon Apartments at Surfers Paradise.
She had arrived in Queensland on July 29 for a two-week holiday planned to coincide with a close friend’s wedding.
Her body was discovered at the base of Avalon apartments about 2.30am on August 8.
On Thursday, her sister Marreza Wright pleaded for information about his sister’s death.
