China and Switzerland have agreed to implement a unilateral visa-free policy, with Switzerland offering increased visa facilitation for Chinese citizens and businesses investing in the country.

The decision was announced following discussions between Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Swiss Confederation President Viola Amherd.

Both nations plan to enhance people-to-people exchanges in celebration of the upcoming 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

During the talks, Swiss Economy Minister Guy Parmelin, along with Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and other high-ranking officials, engaged in discussions covering around 30 bilateral issues and current international affairs.

The Swiss government mentioned that topics included the planned resumption of dialogue between foreign ministries, addressing issues such as development cooperation and human rights.

China has been Switzerland’s key trading partner in Asia since 2010 and ranks as the third most significant global trading partner for Switzerland, following the European Union and the United States.
