Emirates announced that on June 3, 2024, it will commence a daily flight service from Dubai to Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. This new route not only connects Colombia with the United Arab Emirates but also marks the first-ever link between the greater Middle East region and northern South America. By adding Bogotá to its network, Emirates will expand its South American presence to four destinations, in addition to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Buenos Aires.
Emirates‘ operations in the Americas will be further improved with the addition of the latest destination, bringing their total number of served points in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia to 19.
The Emirates daily service will link Dubai and Bogotá via Miami, Florida.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, expressed his enthusiasm for the introduction of the new route and destination. He stated that serving Colombia has been a longstanding goal for the airline. The inclusion of Bogotá in their network aligns with their strategy to enhance connectivity, offer more choices to travelers, and deliver exceptional premium experiences both on the ground and in the air. This daily service to Colombia’s vibrant capital reinforces their strong dedication to South America and is expected to stimulate growth in business and leisure travel opportunities for their customers.
“There is a huge demand for travel to and from Bogotá and we can’t wait for customers to experience Emirates’ signature products and services on the flights between Bogotá and Dubai as well as between Bogotá and Miami. We would like to thank all the authorities involved for supporting our plans and making this new route possible. We look forward to adding value to the new communities served and building new partnerships to promote tourism and trade,” Emirates chief said.
Emirates will commence daily flights to Bogotá, the second most populous city in South America. These flights will meet the increasing demand for travel between Colombia, the United Arab Emirates, and various destinations on Emirates’ global network beyond Dubai that are not directly connected to Bogotá. Additionally, this service will provide convenient flights between Bogotá and Miami, offering travelers a new level of luxury and comfort. Because of Bogotá’s high altitude, a direct flight from Dubai is not feasible, making a stopover necessary. Miami was chosen as the stopover destination due to its strong tourism and trade connections with Bogotá.
Passengers on flights in both directions between Dubai and Bogotá should meet entry regulations for the United States and hold the required documents, due to immigration procedures in Miami. Colombian and UAE citizens can enjoy visa-free entry for up to 90 days in Dubai and Bogotá respectively, thanks to reciprocal visa arrangements in place between both countries.
Passengers traveling between Dubai and Bogotá in either direction must comply with the entry regulations for the United States and possess the necessary documents. This is necessary due to immigration procedures in Miami. Colombian citizens can enter Dubai without a visa for a maximum of 90 days, while UAE citizens can enjoy visa-free entry to Bogotá for the same duration. These arrangements are a result of the reciprocal visa agreements between the two countries.
