Skal Thailand’s prestigious Malai Sakolviphak Award has been presented to Michael Biedermann, former President of the Skal Club of Koh Samui. The presentation was made by Skal Thailand President Dale Lawrence during the Samui club’s monthly networking dinner.
The award is presented annually to a Skal member in Thailand that has made a significant contribution to the organisation over an extended period.
Addressing some 60 Skal club members on Koh Samui, Dale Lawrence explained that this annual award is made in memory of Mr. Malai Sakolviphak, a well-known and highly respected tourism industry figure in Thailand who passed away in late 2011 after many years of distinguished service to Skal at local, national and international level.
“The award recognises Michael Biedermann’s dedication and determination throughout his tenure as Skal President on Koh Samui. In his six years of unbroken service he restored the club’s integrity and worked tirelessly, with excellent support from his Executive Committee, to build and to sustain Skal membership on this popular island,” added Lawrence. “Michael’s dedication is an outstanding example to all those who would wish to serve our long-standing organisation. This award is richly deserved.”
* Skal was formed in 1934. The first Skal club in Thailand was launched in 1956
