STARLUX Airlines, in partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Los Angeles, announced the commencement of air travel connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco to the culturally rich and enchanting city of Chiang Mai in Thailand. Beginning on January 16th, STARLUX Airlines will offer convenient and seamless access to the vibrant region of Northern Thailand.
Pornpan Intratat, Director of TAT Los Angeles, expressed their excitement about collaborating with STARLUX Airlines to offer convenient flights from the USA to the lively ambiance of Chiang Mai. This partnership supports Thailand’s objective of positioning itself as a premier travel destination, highlighting the unique cultural experiences that Chiang Mai has to offer.

STARLUX Airlines, based in Taipei, Taiwan, is an international airline company that commenced its inaugural flight from Taipei to Macau on January 23, 2020.
In August 2022, Starlux announced its plan to expand its services to North America in April 2023 as the travel industry starts to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, along with services to Indonesia in the future. In September 2022, the airline announced its strategy to connect Southeast Asian cities to the U.S. via Taipei Taoyuan Airport.
In February 2023, the airline confirmed its plans to introduce North America services, with regular flights to Los Angeles set for 26 April 2023, following the delivery of the first two Airbus A350s in October 2022.
In March 2023, Starlux announced a multi-year sponsorship with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers team. Starting from June 2023, Clipper-branded in-flight amenities will be available on the Starlux LAX – TPE route.
In April 2023, Starlux announced a strategic partnership with Alaska Airlines, which enables travelers to earn rewards through the other airline’s loyalty program and book connecting flights on a single ticket.
In December 2023, Starlux celebrated the opening of a new office in Taichung, with future plans to operate out of Taichung International Airport in the second quarter of 2024.
STARLUX Airlines currently has a fleet of 21 aircraft and intends to enhance its network by incorporating 5 wide-body airplanes in the coming year. Presently, the airline offers flights to two destinations in North America, specifically Los Angeles and San Francisco. Starting from March 20, the frequency of flights to San Francisco will increase to daily. Additionally, a new route to Seattle is anticipated to be introduced in the latter half of the year, ultimately establishing a hub network by the fourth quarter.
