In the upcoming year, Prague Airport will be focusing on expanding air connections to Asia and North America.

Prague Airport announced that it will expand its direct connection network starting from the last day of March, introducing new destinations including Astana, Tallinn, Florence, and Verona. This summer flight schedule will be served by a total of 68 carriers, providing services to 167 destinations. Additionally, Prague Airport will launch new connections to sought-after vacation spots like Brindisi, Izmir, La Palma, and Ponta Delgada.

Prague Airport is set to offer almost 90 percent of the destinations and carriers available in the record year of 2019. In the upcoming year, Prague Airport will be focusing on expanding air connections to Asia and North America, with negotiations currently underway with airlines to establish regular routes to Hanoi, Beijing, Delhi, Bangkok, and New York. These destinations hold promising potential for both inbound tourism and various traveler segments, including business and cargo transport.

Prague Airport is also planning to increase flight frequencies on over thirty routes. The airport will now handle a maximum of 93 weekly flights to London and 59 connections to Antalya. Passengers will have the option to choose from up to 57 flights to Paris, up to 54 flights to Amsterdam, and 40 weekly connections to Milan. Additionally, direct routes to destinations like Barcelona, Oslo, Marseille, and Copenhagen will have an increased number of connections.

More Capacity

Qatar Airways will enhance its regular connection to Doha, Qatar by deploying the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, resulting in a significant increase in the number of weekly flights (10 times) and seat capacity. This summer season, there will be over 12.8 million seats available, marking a 16 percent growth compared to the previous summer season. Starting from April, Korean Air will resume operating four weekly flights between Prague and Seoul using a modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

This year, airport is expected to handle more than 1.5 million passengers and to return to pre-pandemic passenger levels by the end of 2025 or early 2026. However, due to the war in Ukraine, over 1.5 million passengers are still missing and the connectivity of sixteen destinations from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus is disrupted. Taking this into account, the airport’s performance can be considered at 100 percent of the 2019 figures.

New Carriers

Prague Airport will witness the introduction of multiple new airlines this summer, expanding its connectivity. Qanot Sharq Airlines will establish a connection between Prague and Tashkent, SCAT Airlines will provide direct flights to Astana, FlyOne will commence flights to Chisinau, Arkia will operate flights to Tel Aviv, and KM Malta will offer flights to Malta.

Airport Charges

The Departing Passenger Service Charge at Václav Havel Airport Prague has also been adjusted due to the summer flight schedule. In 2023, despite increasing inflation, the airport charges remained unchanged. However, in 2024, there has been an overall increase of approximately five percent on average. Specifically, the Departing Passenger Service Charge has increased by 5.8 percent, from 659 crowns to 697 crowns, which already includes the PRM charge of 15 crowns. This increase is attributed to higher operating costs, such as energy prices, and increased personnel costs due to inflation. Despite these adjustments, our airport charges remain below the market average when compared to 20 competing European airports.
