UK economy as a whole has been hurt by Brexit according to a majority of survey participants.

According to the latest survey conducted to commemorate the third anniversary of the UK’s separation from the EU, published over the weekend, the majority of United Kingdom citizens currently hold the belief that Brexit has had a negative impact on the country’s economy.

The UK economy as a whole has been adversely affected by Brexit according to a slim majority (54%) of survey participants, whereas only a meager 13% believe that its outcome has been beneficial.

The UK’s immigration control has been negatively impacted by Brexit according to 53% of respondents, while 57% expressed concerns about the negative impact on importing European goods. Additionally, 63% believed that leaving the EU was contributing to inflation and the cost-of-living crisis, with only 8% believing they were benefiting from better deals in the shops after Brexit.

Out of the individuals surveyed, thirty-five percent expressed the belief that leaving the bloc had adversely affected their personal financial circumstances, while only ten percent stated that it had provided them with financial benefits.

40% viewed the effect on salaries and wages negatively, while only 11% perceived a benefit. In contrast, nearly half (47%) believed that the National Health Service was adversely affected, in comparison to a mere 9% who believed that things had improved.

Survey organizers report ongoing public dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of Brexit. Failings are now seen in areas that were once seen as potential benefits of leaving the EU. In the upcoming election, Brexit is expected to be of lesser importance compared to the economy and the NHS, which are the primary concerns for voters.

In 2016, the UK decided to leave the EU with a narrow majority of 52%. However, the country did not officially leave until January 2020. Two months before the government’s decision to implement Covid-19 lockdown measures, which led to a severe recession, the UK’s exit from the EU took place. This recession is the worst the country has experienced since the Office for National Statistics started recording data in 1955.

After a failed attempt at a Brexit deal led to then-Prime Minister Theresa May’s resignation in 2019, the separation was finally achieved under the direction of her successor Boris Johnson, who led his Conservative party to victory in their biggest election win since the Thatcher years based on his promise to “Get Brexit Done.”

In 2019, then-Prime Minister Theresa May resigned following an unsuccessful Brexit deal attempt. Her successor Boris Johnson, who led the Conservative party to their largest election win since the Thatcher era, successfully achieved the separation, as he had promised to Get Brexit Done.
