Italy Tourism is About to Take a New Promising Direction

Alessandra

Tourism leadership in Italy is in new good hands Alessandra Priante left UNWTO as its head of Europe to lead ENIT, the Italian Government Tourist Board.

In her message on LinkedIn, she did not mention UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili – and it may not take a lot of speculation to understand why. Professor Alessandra Priante officially acknowledged her new role by saying:

“Words are very unnecessary”, but pls allow me to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I am truly humbled by all the positive reactions to my recent career move, reaching me from the tourism world in Italy, and my friends, acquaintances, and partners from all over the world.

Your words of appreciation and your trust in my abilities to contribute to the success of this new journey as President of what will be the new ENIT – Italian National Tourist Board, are the fuel to my determination and focus towards achieving the best possible, together with the wonderful people with whom I will be sharing this path.

I am excited about the challenges ahead of us and vow to give my best to support the action and the vision of the Ministero del Turismo into life and help restore Italy’s pivotal role in the global tourism sector.

I am immensely grateful for the incredibly rewarding experience as Director for Europe at UN Tourism.

I have learned so much, grown so much, and contributed so much.

I entered at the end of 2019 with hardly two people in the department and – notwithstanding COVID – with the full trust of visionary top management and amazing colleagues – had the chance to build a fantastic team: enthusiastic, dedicated, talented, and soulful young professionals to whom I wish the absolute best!

And hope UN TOURISM nurtures them in the best way possible.

PEOPLE is everything to me. And it will be so also in this part of my career.
And I can’t wait to continue working with you all under my new “dress”.
Tourism is the most positive and human economic sector and together we can change things for the better.
