Airport leaders reiterate significant impact of airports on local and world economies as ACI event comes to an end

The 12th Airport Council International (ACI) Asia Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference and Exhibition hosted by Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha, under the patronage of H.E Mr. Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, the Minister of Transport and Communications of the State of Qatar, concluded with an official closing ceremony at the St. Regis hotel.

The ACI event, which takes place internationally on an annual basis, was attended by world industry leaders WHO, over the 3 day conference, addressed major issues and exchanged ideas and best practices that can further advance the aviation industry. Among the key themes discussed were the role of airports as corporate responsible citizens within their societies, the latest technological innovations and their positive impact on passenger experience, airport security and the expansion of the scope of the non-aeronautical activities especially when developing airport cities. Airport CEOs expressed their optimism about the traffic growth for 2017 and airports delivering strong results, with a direct positive economic and social impact on the local and world economies.

Several prestigious aviation award ceremonies took place during the event, including the Green Airports Recognition and ACI’s Airport Carbon Accreditation Awards.

The event concluded with a handover ceremony during which HIA’s representative, Mr. Abdul-Aziz Al Mass, Vice President of Commercial and Marketing officially handed over the hosting responsibilities to Mr. Kenichi Fukaya, Senior Executive Advisor of Narita International Airport, which will be the host airport of the 13th ACI Asia Pacific Regional Assembly in Tokyo, Japan.

As part of the host’s closing remarks, Mr. Abdul-Aziz Al Mass, Vice President of Commercial and Marketing of Hamad International Airport said: “It has been an honour to host the 12th ACI Asia Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference and Exhibition in the State of Qatar. Together with ACI Asia Pacific, we’ve enjoyed providing our guests with a platform to come together and make a difference to the future of aviation.
