Today more was said about the future of AirBerlin. It appears Germany will have only one dominant when it comes to aviation – the Lufthansa group.

On October 15 bankrupt AirBerlin will seize operations of all their long-haul flights.

The reason: Leasing companies are demanding their A330 planes back. airberlin had to return already 10 out of 17 planes.

In addition, two popular domestic routes: Hamburg-Munich and Cologne/Bonn – Munich routes will be eliminated as of September 29.

80 percent of all staff should have a good chance to be re-hired, but not all jobs will be kept. Several thousand staff members, however, will be re-hired by Lufthansa. Air Berlin in March had approximately 8500 people on their payroll.

A stable flight schedule for the following days is important to come to a good solution says Frank Kebekus.

Negotiations will be ongoing until October 12 in regards to the sale. A final conclusion should be expected by the end of this year.
