A Korean Cultural Festival where there will be a cultural exchange of dance, music, and food is all set to go in a few days in a tourist destination that may surprise some. This one-day event is sure to delight tourists and citizens in this inaugural cultural endeavor.

Korea has taken the initiative to organize the first Korean Cultural Festival in Pune, India, to foster closer ties. This special event between Korea and India, is the first Korean Cultural Festival to be held in India and is scheduled for September 27 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm by the Consulate General of Korea (Republic) in Mumbai who is organizing the festival. The Korean Association of Pune is hosting it.

About 600 to 700 Koreans are expected to attend this event which will be open to Koreans, Indians, and other nationalities as well, as per Ku Mi Kyoung, director of the festival.

There is an interesting line-up of events:

– The Cultural Exchange Program will see Koreans play the sitar while Indians will perform the ‘taekwon’ dance.

– There will be children’s chorus that will be performed by Indian children, and Korean women will be also present a chorus.

– Food stalls serving Korean food will be set up at the venue.

– Mi, who, along with her husband owns Cafe Maroo in Aundh, will be putting up her stall as well.

– Another major highlight of this show will be the K-Pop Contest (singing and dancing) – K-Pop stands for Korean Pop.
