OAHU, Hawaii – The Center for Biological Diversity’s Frostpaw the Polar Bear will be on Oahu during President Obama’s holiday vacation in the hopes of convincing him to reject the Keystone XL pipeline and take action on climate change.
Frostpaw will be in Hawaii from Dec. 21 to Jan. 3, bringing his unique brand of environmental activism to the streets, beaches, golf courses and other public places on Oahu.
Frostpaw just finished up a weeklong vigil outside the White House during the Thanksgiving holiday and has been present outside several of the president’s speeches in fundraising trips this year in places like Martha’s Vineyard, Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
“If polar bears – and the rest of us – are going to have a future on this planet, we need to address the climate crisis head-on. And the first step ought to be rejecting the Keystone pipeline,” said the Center’s Keystone campaigner, Valerie Love. “Keystone may be thousands of miles away but the effects of climate change will be felt right here in Hawaii, including rising oceans, coral reef destruction, and more violent storms.”
What: Frostpaw the Polar Bear will be on Oahu urging President Obama to reject Keystone XL and take action on climate change. Visitors are invited to have their photo taken with Frostpaw and sign a petition against Keystone.
Where: Waikiki Beach area, exact locations will vary each day depending on the President’s activities.
