Ole Friedrich, Managing Director at Düsseldorf Tourismus GmbH, and Juergen Steinmetz, Chairman of the World Tourism Network, made it official at the just concluded ITB Travel Trade Show in Berlin by saying:
“We’re a proud member of the World Tourism Network!”
Duesseldorf is already a historical, progressive, ultramodern, and different type of travel destination in Germany, yet it remains a travel secret, allowing visitors a true experience to feel at home.
Duesseldorf is magic
Repeat visitors always have a good reason to return to Duesseldorf again and again and stay longer every time. It’s like magic. There is a reason for this, which can only be understood by those who have experienced the deeper meaning and spirit of this city, its people and how this all interacts.
If I only had stayed in Duesseldorf
This secret led to the famous German song entitled “If only I had stayed in Düsseldorf.”
The chance this secret can be revealed to more visitors falling in love with this unique town now opened another big door, the joining of a global organization founded by a native of this city, Juergen Steinmetz.
WTN Chairman and founder Juergen Steinmetz resides in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, but was born and raised in Duesseldorf.
Duesseldorf officially signed the WTN membership agreement at ITB
The membership agreement was officially signed at the Dusseldorf stand at ITB. Juergen Steinmetz, Chairman of the World Tourism Network, welcomed Duesseldorf to the network’s family of cities, countries, and 23,000+ stakeholders in 133 countries.
Duesseldorf is now part of the WTN Team
He said: “With WTN’s focus on independent small and medium-sized businesses in travel and tourism, Dusseldorf is a typical example that demonstrates the importance of SMEs in our industry. This is a proud moment for WTN and also for me personally to welcome my former hometown. Any destination joining the World Tourism Network is becoming an essential part of our team. Dusseldorf is part of this team now – and for me, it has a special meaning, of course.”
Dimitri Belov, Head of Health Marketing, Christian Schuller, Manager of Market Development, and Dmytro Makarov, VP for World Tourism Network, attended yesterday’s signing ceremony at the Dusseldorf stand at ITB Berlin.
Medical Tourism in Duesseldorf is a key
Dusseldorf hopes to play a major role in the organization’s Medical, Health, and Wellness Tourism interest group and in the Ageless Travel initiative.
World Tourism Network’s focus on small- and medium-sized travel and tourism businesses is perfect for Dusseldorf, where this segment still accounts for the largest part of the sector.
Alt Beer
“Duesseldorf has a unique beer known as ALT Beer. Don’t get fooled at a microbrew in Houston; instead, taste ALT Beer in Duesseldorf, and you will be sold”, Steinmetz added.
Düsseldorf is a city of encounters and interactions, whether at the bar of a microbrewery in Old Town or over a sushi train in Little Tokyo. Everyone has their favorite places. But sometimes, it’s good to change things up and experience something new, which is where ‘Inspiration Düsseldorf’ comes in handy.
Diverse, full of contrast, yet still close together. That’s Düsseldorf! The warmth of the people here gives the city its cozy village feel.
The Rhineland way of life and its stories make Düsseldorf so unique.
At the same time, Duesseldorf is a world-class city, easily connected to the world by air, rail, and road.
Duesseldorf is also diverse in food, including its own version of German specialties that are unique to the city.
Brand name hotels, but also local independent accommodation make up the hospitality world in this town.
