A 6.9 strong earthquake near Fiji and Tonga did not cause a tsunami, according to USGS. The quake hit at 6:57 am local time on Saturday morning.

A 6.9 strong earthquake near Fiji and Tonga did not cause a tsunami, according to USGS. The quake hit at 6:57 am local time on Saturday morning.

Both islands are major travel and tourism spots in the Southern Pacific Ocean.

No reports about damages or injuries are available.

The Pacific Ocean quake was located:

42km (88mi) NE of Ndoi Island, Fiji
315km (196mi) WNW of Nuku`alofa, Tonga
431km (268mi) ESE of Suva, Fiji
468km (291mi) SE of Lambasa, Fiji
545km (339mi) ESE of Nadi, Fiji
