Guests from across Brunei have reserved rooms since October to secure their spots.

The impending royal wedding of Prince Mateen, the 10th child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, to Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic, has triggered a surge in hotel bookings in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei‘s capital.

Andy Goh, a local hotel’s general manager, reported full occupancy on the day of the Royal Procession, slated for Jan. 14, indicating heightened interest in securing a vantage point for witnessing the royal couple. Guests from across Brunei have reserved rooms since October to secure their spots.

Molly Bong, an operations director at another hotel, confirmed that an embassy made arrangements at their establishment, hinting at international dignitaries attending the festivities.

The ten-day celebration will commence with a proposal ceremony and an Islamic ritual on Jan. 11, culminating in a reception and parade on Jan. 14, followed by an official conclusion on Jan. 16, as per reports from various sources like Malaysian news site Hype and People Magazine.

Prince Mateen, renowned as a helicopter pilot, a major in the Royal Brunei Air Force, and an accomplished polo player, was previously recognized among Asia’s top 50 most eligible bachelors by Hong Kong’s Tatler Magazine in 2016.

Meanwhile, Anisha Rosnah, granddaughter of the Sultan’s special advisor, holds a degree from a prestigious English university, manages a fashion label, and co-owns a tourism enterprise.

These high-profile individuals’ unions have captivated local and international attention, spurring a wave of anticipation and enthusiasm, as evidenced by the overflowing reservations in Bandar Seri Begawan’s hotels ahead of the royal celebrations.
