Qatar Airways has announced plans to expand its network by incorporating Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This expansion aims to enhance the frequency and capacity of flights to Luanda, Angola. By extending its network in this manner, Qatar Airways is offering passengers a wider range of travel options within a significant African region. Moreover, this development introduces a fresh entry point for international travel from Africa to China, Europe, and the India Subcontinent, with Doha, Qatar serving as the gateway. With the inclusion of Kinshasa, the airline now serves a total of twenty-nine destinations in Africa.
As of June 1st, 2024, Luanda will witness a rise in flight frequency from one flight per week to four flights per week. Qatar Airways will introduce a new service to Kinshasa, marking their first time operating this route. The new route will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. This aircraft boasts 22 Business Class seats and 232 Economy Class seats.
According to Qatar Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, the airline has reached significant milestones in its 2024 network expansion, and this recent addition is particularly noteworthy as it supports carrier’s strategic aim of growing its presence in Africa. The inclusion of Kinshasa in Qatar Airways’ network is the latest indication of the company’s efforts to enhance connectivity to Africa. Qatar Airways has proven its commitment to the region by offering passengers in Africa more choices to explore different parts of the world through its network and its hub at Doha’s Hamad International Airport.
