Montenegro is a rapidly expanding and vibrant tourist hotspot in Europe, with the travel and tourism sector contributing approximately 25% to Montenegro’s overall GDP.

According to the latest report released by Montenegro’s statistical office, there was a 15 percent increase in the number of international visitors to the Balkan country in November compared to the previous year, with a total of 46,145 tourists.

The statistical office reported that Montenegro tourism witnessed a 15% year-on-year growth in the number of tourists staying in November, reaching a total of 54,468.

In November of 2022, overnight tourist stays increased to 138,429 from 123,457 during the corresponding month in 2022.

In November, German visitors constituted 17% of the total number of overnight stays by tourists in Montenegro. This was followed by Serbian tourists, who accounted for 8.8% of the stays, and Turkish tourists with a share of 8.7%.

Montenegro’s easide resorts accounted for 70% of total overnight stays, while Podgorica, the capital, received 21%. Mountain resorts represented 4.1% of the stays, while other resorts accounted for 4.5%.

Montenegro, situated in the Balkans, is a country distinguished by its rough mountains, ancient settlements, and a slender stretch of beaches along the Adriatic coast. The UNESCO World Heritage listed Bay of Kotor, which bears a resemblance to a fjord, is adorned with coastal churches and fortified towns like Kotor and Herceg Novi. Durmitor National Park, where bears and wolves roam, encompasses limestone summits, glacial lakes, and the impressive Tara River Canyon, plunging 1,300 meters deep.
