Lufthansa San Francisco Flights Cancelled until March 22

Lufthansa: 5,200 flight connections to 205 destinations in 2023

A shortage of pilots has long been discussed in many countries around the world. This is now also becoming a reality in Germany.

Passengers booked on Star Alliance Member Lufthansa German Airlines from Frankfurt to San Francisco are currently rebooked on United Airlines or connecting flights to San Francisco on Lufthansa to a US gateway and connecting to United Airlines.

Currently, there are no more flights scheduled between FRA and SFO on the German flag carrier until March 22.

Even though Lufthansa is quoting the ongoing labor dispute with the Verde union, at this time there are no strikes, but cancellations for this route are still ongoing.

The true reason is, according to reports in Aerotelegraph, that Lufthansa is no longer employing enough cockpit crew to fly the Boeing 747 – 8 to California.

The 747-8 is the world’s longest currently-operational passenger airliner, surpassing the Airbus A340-600 by 3.1 ft.

Lufthansa stated steps to get stability back in crew planning, the cancellations for flights to San Francisco became necessary.

Lufthansa counts on the understanding by passengers after apologizing.
