As the countdown to its inauguration continues, the Navi Mumbai International Airport stands as a testament to India’s commitment to modern infrastructure and aviation excellence.

In Mumbai, India, the construction of the highly anticipated Navi Mumbai International Airport is advancing at a rapid pace, with authorities announcing that the airport will commence operations by March 31, 2025.

As of now, approximately 63% of the construction work has been accomplished. Notably, the airport boasts a distinctive design inspired by the lotus flower, India’s national flower.

With a staggering budget of Rs 16,700 crore, the project is under the stewardship of Adani Airport Holdings Limited, after the Adani Group assumed control from GVK Industries in 2021.

The development of the new airport, initiated in 2018, aims to alleviate the strain on the congested Mumbai International Airport.

Spanning across 1160 acres of land, the project unfolds in four phases, with the authorities targeting the operationalisation of the first two phases by the specified deadline.

The entire airport is slated to be fully operational by 2032. Notable progress includes the completion of hill leveling and the successful alteration of the Ulwe River’s course to facilitate construction.

Additionally, swamps have been filled, and high-tension transmission lines have been installed in the vicinity.

The terminal and runway construction are nearing completion, featuring two runways measuring 3700 meters in length and 60 meters in width.

As the countdown to its inauguration continues, the Navi Mumbai International Airport stands as a testament to India’s commitment to modern infrastructure and aviation excellence.
