Jambojet, a new low-cost carrier (LCC) due to start operations on April 1, formally revealed their livery this evening, showing off the colors they will be flying across Kenya from Nairobi to Mombasa, Eldoret, and Kisumu.

Besides the name painted on the hull of the aircraft, the tail fin of each aircraft is painted in a different design, sure to have passengers taking more than just one look to see what aircraft they are boarding.

The main color theme, however, as seen before in commercials and adverts, is strikingly similar to the one used by Kenya Airways’ former LCC Flamingo, and there have already been some comments that this particular choice might not be a good omen, as Flamingo at the time was eventually brought back into the Kenya Airways fold after failing to make a commercial impact, their Saab turboprop aircraft integrated into the main Kenya Airways fleet and the concept shelved, until two years ago when the Jambojet project re-emerged.

Jambojet now has three Boeing B737-300 in their fleet which will be used to fly, depending on the traffic day, between 5 and 6 times from Nairobi to Mombasa, twice a day from Nairobi to Kisumu and 13 times a week to Eldoret (some of those flights then route back to Nairobi via Kisumu). All three aircrafts, now configured in a single-class economy cabin, came from parent corporation Kenya Airways and are leased to Jambojet.

Happy landings to the three birds, the crews and passengers, when they take to the skies over Kenya on April 1, when the maiden flight takes off at 0630 from Nairobi to Kisumu, followed at 0730 by the first flight to Mombasa.
