The U.S. Coast Guard is searching the waters off Galveston, Texas, for a passenger who went overboard from a Carnival Cruise ship. Official said the 26-year-old man was reported overboard from the Carnival Dream cruise ship as it was located 47 miles southeast of Galveston, Texas, on Thursday evening.

According to Carnival representatives, camera footage from aboard the ship appears to show the passenger jumping from his stateroom balcony.

The ship immediately returned to the area near where the incident occurred and began search and rescue procedures. The ship’s on board care team was assisting the guest’s family.

One of the passengers on Carnival Dream said the cruise was dealing with “fairly rough seas” when the incident happened.

Multiple ships and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter were involved in the search.
