The 46th Annual General Assembly of the African Airline Association, in short AFRAA, will this year take place in the Algerian capital of Algiers from November 9 to 11.

“Winning Together through Innovation and Collaboration” is the theme of this year’s assembly at the Hilton Algiers Hotel. Host airline Air Algerie is looking forward to welcoming airline chiefs and top managers from across the African continent. AFRAA has opened the registration for the event and details are available on the organization’s website www.afraa.org

AFRAA also announced the formation of a management committee for their latest initiative to help member airlines lower their cost, and for joint ground handling, which follows in the footsteps of the hugely successful joint fuel purchasing project. Now in its third year, this project has saved tens of millions of US dollars for participating airlines.

Information from AFRAA in Nairobi suggests that by the end of this year the first tender will be ready for joint ground handling and that by 2015 the project may be able to take off and yield savings for the airlines which choose to join the scheme.
