As Cape Town prepares to welcome the world to the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the Mother City is still emerging as a global travel favorite, with a string of fresh accolades to boost its top destination reputation.
Hot on the heels of an accolade from Askmen.com (Cape Town was ranked sixth in their Top 29 Cities for Men 2010); Cape Town has been commended with seven TripAdvisor Awards. TripAdvisor is a user-generated site, which allows travelers to rate tourism experiences. Said Cape Town Tourism CEO, Mariette du Toit-Helmbold: “Online opinion is certainly one of the toughest review trenches, so these awards are truly the ultimate testimony to public favor and a sure endorsement for visitors to the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ to include Cape Town on their itinerary.”
TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel review site and, for many, it is a premier source of independent, user-generated travel information on the tourism landscape.
In the TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards for 2010, Cape Town has been named:

• First in the Top 25 Destinations in the Africa category
• Sixth in the Top 25 Destinations in the World Chosen by Europeans
• Sixth in the Top 10 Beach & Sun Destinations in Africa
• Second in the Top 10 Culture & Sightseeing Destinations in Africa
• Fourth in the Top 10 Outdoor & Adventure Destinations in Africa
and last but not least
• Second in the Top 10 Food & Wine Destinations in the World
