Green Globe recently re-certified the Movenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel Dubai.

Over the past year, Movenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel Dubai has focused on assisting people in need in both international and local communities and continues to work on improvements within the property that will minimize environmental impacts.

Movenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel Dubai participates in various Corporate Social Responsibility campaigns throughout the year such as Soap For Hope and Linen for Charity.

Maurice De Rooij, General Manager at the hotel said, “It’s heartwarming to know that we can be of help to people even if they are miles away from us. The team is always eager to join in the Soap For Hope activity and know that their efforts will help people who have been struck down by natural catastrophes such as typhoons or those living in extreme poverty who face certain hardship.”

Recently, the IBG team worked in collaboration with Diversey to support the Soap for Hope initiative. Staff members collect used soap remnants which are made into new cakes of soap and distributed in developing countries such as the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Soaps are either given to those in need or donated when a natural disaster occurs. Linen for Charity is a reuse program undertaken by the hotel where old linen and damaged bed covers, duvets or carpets are donated to charitable causes in the local community.

Movenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel Dubai continues to play a significant role in protecting the environment. Most notably, the property’s waste diversion ratio has increased from 10.7% in 2014 to 24.51% in 2017. This represents an increase of approximately 115%. There was also a genuine reduction of energy in 2017 compared to 2016 of 0.42%. Furthermore, CO2 emissions per guest night are calculated at 204.1 kg which is an 8% reduction as compared to 2016.
