Singapore Airlines to operate four daily flights between Singapore and Sydney

Singapore Airlines will further expand capacity on the Singapore – Sydney route from April, with the progressive introduction of a fourth daily service, making it the first airline to operate 28 weekly flights on this popular route.

The added frequency, utilizing the new Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, will be phased in from April, initially operating on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, before increasing to daily from June.

Together with the introduction of the new Airbus A380 super-jumbo on the route, the new service will expand capacity on the route by one third, with 1,500 seats a day to be available for sale.

SQ233 will depart Singapore at 0700hrs and arrive in Sydney at 1620hrs, giving customers ample time to check into the hotel and freshen up before heading out for dinner at the stylish restaurants along Sydney Harbour.

SQ234 will depart Sydney at 1735hrs and arrive in Singapore at 2350hrs, providing shorter connections to later onward departures from Singapore, such as Cape Town, Johannesburg, Rome, Athens, Zurich, Copenhagen, Beijing and Shanghai.

The B777-300ER is configured in a spacious, three-class cabin, featuring the new generation Singapore Airlines cabin products. The privacy and luxury of First Class, the spaciousness of the new Business Class in a 4-abreast configuration, and the comfort of the new Economy Class, will be as well-received by customers on this flight as it has been on the A380.

Every seat in every class on the B777-300ER includes the new KrisWorld entertainment system, with over 1,000 entertainment options available, as well as a suite of office PC applications and USB connection for thumb-drives.

“We have been especially pleased with the increased demand for our Sydney services. Sydney remains one of the most popular cities on our network,” said Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Marketing and Regions, Mr Huang Cheng Eng.

“This frequency increase on this route will help meet the demands of travelers from around the world to reach this truly international city, as well as to help our Australian customers expand their travel options,” Mr Huang said.

Besides Sydney (4 times daily), the Singapore Airlines network to Australia also includes Adelaide (daily), Brisbane (17 times weekly), Melbourne (3 times daily) and Perth (3 times daily).

The Airline will be flying 94 times per week to Australia by June 2008, offering almost 3.5 million seats a year to and from Australia.
