Ciangxi, a southeast Chinese province, is defined by its pastoral landscapes of rice paddies, rivers and mountains. Centered on the Gan River valley, historically it’s been on major north-south trade routes. In the northwest, Jingdezhen has been a center of porcelain-making for over 1,000 years. Today, the city has many pottery studios and shops, several ceramic museums, and the remains of a Ming-era imperial kiln.
