HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach announced today the appointment of Douglas Chang as General Manager of the property. Chang is a seasoned leader with 35 years of luxury hospitality experience and will direct a team of ladies and gentlemen to manage the property and deliver legendary Ritz-Carlton service to residence owners and their guests.

“We are delighted Doug will be at the helm of The Residences on Oahu. His well-rounded operational experience and leadership skills make him an excellent choice to open this exciting new property,” said John Hearns, Vice President of Ritz-Carlton Residential Operations.

Most recently, Chang served as General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis. Prior to this, he was General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, Kapalua Bay, a luxury residential property that included whole ownership and fractional-ownership homes. His hospitality experience in the Hawaiian Islands also includes leadership positions at other luxury resort properties.

An active member in the community, Chang is a past board member, chair and vice chair of the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) and has served on the board of the Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association and the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association. During his full tenure on the islands, chair and board member positions also included Kauai and Maui Convention and Visitor Bureaus, Kauai High School Academy of Travel & Tourism, Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association and various business councils throughout the islands.

Chang was born and raised on Oahu, so this appointment as General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Residences in Waikiki is a homecoming of sorts. He attended the University of Hawaii, Manoa, studying international business. During his free time he enjoys competitive canoe paddling and has completed four Molokai Hoe Kaiwi Channel crossings.
