In an email sent out by the Bali Hotels Association, reference is made to the Welcome Back to Bali government website with information on the new tourism levy initiative. The website explains that this new tourist fee is designed to contribute to the preservation and continuation of the island’s unique cultural heritage while reinforcing its dedication to sustainable tourism.
Beginning with love on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024, international visitors to Bali will be subject to a one-time fee of IDR150,000 (US$10). This one-time payment is per each visit/arrival into Bali and applies to adults and children of all ages.
The website encourages International visitors to settle this payment via the Love Bali website or App prior to their arrival. Upon payment, a tourism levy voucher will be sent via email, and the QR code can be downloaded to smartphones or printed for scanning at checkpoints in Bali airport and sea ports.
Individual online payments are required.
Currently, family payments cannot be processed online. Alternatively, the levy can be paid upon arrival at the airport in Bali.
Certain visa categories are exempt from this fee, including diplomatic and official visa holders, conveyance crew, KITAS and KITAP holders, family unification visas, golden and student visa holders, as well as specific non-tourist visa holders.
To qualify for exemption, applications must be submitted 5 days before the planned arrival in Bali and meet the specified criteria.
The Bali Hotels Association, which sent out the notification of this new tourism levy, is a professional group of star rated hotels and resorts in Bali. Members include General Managers from 168 hotels and resorts in Bali that represent more than 26,313 hotel rooms and almost 31,609 employees in tourism sector.
