After the summer break, the Valencia Conference Centre has renewed its congress activities once again, with six international events to be held under the umbrella of OMICS Group International, an organiser of international events and scientific conferences across the world. These events will be taking place from 23rd – 26th September.
The Valencia Conference Centre’s schedule for the last four months of the year features a number of major international science and technology-based congresses of interest to both experts and the general public.
The first of these congresses is the 2nd International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia. The aim of this meeting, which will get underway shortly after World Alzheimer’s Day, is to create a forum in which researchers, academics, and scientists from around the world can share experiences and disseminate the results of the latest research carried out into these neurodegenerative diseases. The conference will bring together leading international experts in the field, from Mayo Clinic (USA), and the universities of Wisconsin, Florida, Stanford (USA), Bologna (Italy), and Manchester (UK), among others.
In parallel, the Centre will be hosting the 3rd International Conference and Exhibition on Nutrition & Food Sciences. This is an excellent platform for nutritionists, dieticians, doctors, researchers, and quality control and packaging experts to give their opinions on the importance of nutrition in daily life, centring on areas of interest such as nutritional disorders in children, diabetes and obesity. The 4th International Conference on Vaccines & Vaccination aims to encourage academia and industry to work together on assessing the most up-to-date research into vaccines, from the latest strategies in oncology vaccinations to clinical trials of the AIDS vaccine, in order to improve current treatments and analyse new opportunities.
Alongside these events, the 3rd International Conference on Clinical Microbiology & Microbial Genomics, the 3rd International Summit on GMP, GCP, & Quality Control, and the 3rd International Conference on Tissue Science & Regenerative Medicine will also be taking place, with the last of these events set to focus on bone and cartilage tissue replacement, and the application of the latest transplant therapies in tissue regeneration methods.
These events will take place alongside other international congresses scheduled at the venue until the end of the year, which include the Climate-KIC Innovation Festival, on sustainable growth and climate change, and IEEE Sensors, on sensor and bio-sensor technology.
This intense activity reflects the Centre’s determination to make sure Valencia continues to be competitive in international event tourism. According to current data provided by the Union of International Associations (UIA), the city of Valencia is the third-ranked Spanish city in terms of international congresses, and the fifth in Europe, excluding capital cities. The city has maintained last year’s ranking, and together with Madrid and Barcelona, has a 77% market share of the meetings held in Spain, with its competitors a long way behind. Similarly, statistics provided by ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) for 2013 also coincide in Valencia’s position on the Spanish podium, and point to a growth rate of 54% in this type of meeting over the last ten years. This puts Valencia ahead of other cities such as Dubai, New York, San Francisco, Moscow, Chicago, Saint Petersburg, and New Delhi.
In terms of domestic events, the Valencia Conference Centre is also a venue of choice and a firm fixture on the major congress circuit. The events scheduled for the last four months of the year include important medical and health conferences, such as the 28th Congress of the Spanish Outpatient and Primary Care Paediatric Society, and the 66th Annual Meeting of the Spanish Neurology Society. These two congresses alone generate over 11,000 overnight stays in the city, and an economic impact of around €4 million.
