Top 10 largest music events in Spain attract more than 1.6 million visitors

What does Live Nation España, RockNrock, the Valencian Generalitat government, Canaries, Jaén Provincial Council, Adra City Hall (Almería), Infoticketing and Sony Music all have in common? They will be, among others, showcasing their proposals in a new staging due to be presented at FITUR from January 17-21 at Feria de Madrid, Spain.

Some major companies specializing in organizing festivals, destinations and service providers have already confirmed their participation in the new FITUR FESTIVALS monographic section due to be held at the upcoming staging of the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR 2018, organized by IFEMA.

The space has been brought into being with the aim of generating new tourist networks and of driving the promotion and development of a tourism industry segment with growing potential. The top ten largest music events in Spain alone attract more than 1.6 million visitors, with an economic impact exceeding 400 million euros. This is why festivals have become a major attraction for many tourists, who travel and organize their trips around this reason.

Among the companies showcasing their proposals at FITUR FESTIVALS are relevant exhibitors such as Live Nation España presenting the 5th anniversary of the Barcelona Beach Festival (BBF) one of the most important electronic music festivals in Europe for its unique beach venue in Barcelona and for attracting to every staging the most in-demand DJs and producers on the planet; and RockNrock, a concert organizer and promoter of the ROCKFEST BCN Festival.

Also present at this FITUR section, supporting the festivals held in their region, are the Valencian Generalitat government, which presents the Mediterranew MUSIX brand; Canaries, through Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Arona and Adeje City Halls; Jaén Provincial Council and Adra City Hall (Almería).

Other prominent exhibitors participating in this new section will be Infoticketing (customized ticketing system) and Sony Music, bringing all their technology to the auditorium and presenting their activities relating to the merging of music and tourism.

Moreover, and as an example of the impact festival tourism has on the country, Spain Live Music will organize at FITUR FESTIVALS different talks titled “Festivals and Tourism Development”; “Building a sector of relevance”; “If we share customers, why don’t we work together”, and “The Soundtrack to Destinations. What does your homeland sound like?”

Festivals Tourism

Organizers, promoters and tourist destinations are increasingly interested in promoting the staging of festivals, a task in which the participation of industry providers and ancillary companies, specialized travel agencies, ticketing companies and sponsors also comes into play.

Live music saw a turnover of 194 million euros in Spain in 2015, 12 % more than in the previous year according to the Music Promoters’ Association (APM). And according to the SGAE, the Spanish Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers, almost 22 million people attended live music events that same year.
