In an exclusive interview with Zambia Tourism Board PR and Media Manager Caristo Chitamfya to commemorate 10 years of Sun International in Zambia at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London this morning, Sun International Marketing Manager for UK and Ireland Fiona Malan said Sun International over the past ten years has grown significantly not only in terms of its core business of offering high quality tourism products to thousands of visitors to Zambia but also in its social and economic programs.

Ms Fiona said Sun International has embarked on numerous poverty alleviation initiatives that have benefitted the local people and earned the company numerous International Awards.

She added that Sun International has also played a pioneering role in creating new interest and attracting investment to the region by dedicating offshore teams in established as well as emerging markets.

She said Sun International has a powerful marketing structure that is focused in terms of building relationships and selling Zambia directly to the global market.

And commenting on Zambia’s co-hosting of the UNWTO General Assembly in 2013, Ms Fiona said this was an exciting opportunity that will draw a diverse delegation and introduce a valuable audience to Zambia. She said the backdrop of the Victoria Falls and the authentic African Bomas, among others, will be befitting attractions for the visitors.

Sun International works closely with the Zambia Tourism Board to find new opportunities for tourism promotion and supports all ZTB initiatives.

On Tuesday, Sun International toasted to 10 years in Zambia at a cocktail party held at their stand at the World Travel Market at Excel Exhibition Center in London

ZTB Managing Director Felix Chaila and IIPT President Louis D’Amour were among those invited to the celebrations and were accorded the honor of cutting the ‘Birthday Cake’ and ‘proposing the toast’.

The Zambia Tourism Board on Tuesday unveiled the new Zambia, “Let’s Explore” brand to the international market, at the same venue.
