Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon Boat Festival is the annual event of the Banff that draws as many as 600 or more participants to the lakes of Minnewanka. The Chinese dragon boats race across the lake in perfect synchronicity. If somebody breaks this rhythm, it could cost them the race. The boats are 40 feet long, along with the dragon’sdragon’s head and tail. And crew members include one drummer, a person in charge of steering, plus 20 paddlers. The stable section of the paddlers makes even the beginners compete for the race.

The pacers set the pace, drummers follow their lead, and the drum beats motivate the paddler to paddle and help them maintain sync. The event gets more exciting when the boat approaches the finish line, the beats of the drums get louder, and the dragon heads closer. It is rightly the festival to capture your summer spirit high in Lake Louise.
