The Seychelles Tourism Board is intensifying efforts to attract more leisure travellers from Reunion Island.

The STB representative in Reunion joined travel agents to network with different groups and associations in the main cities of the French overseas department in the Indian Ocean.

The first in a series of networking events was held in the city of Saint Paul and Saint Leu on June 19th and 21st.The marketing events were geared towards presenting the destination to the presidents of the different associations. Over 20 presidents of associations attended the networking sessions in both cities.

The Seychelles Tourism Board is working with its trade partners in Reunion to help bring more leisure travellers to Seychelles during Reunion’s low season or school holidays. Presidents of the associations organize yearly holidays for their members and are always on the lookout for new destinations.

The networking sessions which STB organized recently, was therefore an opportunity for them to learn more about Seychelles and its products and eventually present it to their members.

During the networking sessions, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Senior Marketing Executive for Reunion, Bernadette Honore, made a short presentation on the destination. She emphasized on the aspects of accessibility and affordable products for the Reunion market, as well as the different activities besides sun, sea, and sand, which the island destination has to offer to its neighbouring visitors.

STB was assisted by travel agents who presented packages based on the wide range of tourism properties available for the Reunion clientele.

The networking session was also an opportunity for Seychelles Tourism Board to take stock of the needs of leisure traveller groups so as to better understand the market, which is profitable for Seychelles.

“It is important for the Seychelles Tourism Board to continuously reach out to the group traveller community to attract more interest to Seychelles, in order to remain relevant and gain our fair share of the group traveller market segment. The networking sessions are a continuous process, which will be reinforced throughout the year in other cities,” said Ms Honore.

Reunion Island is a regional market where Seychelles has recorded increasing numbers when it comes to visitor arrivals in recent years. In 2017, the Seychelles Tourism Board has also witnessed increased interest from leisure group travellers.
