One killed, five injured in Kenya plane crash

A privately owned Cessna C210L Centurion, based at the Ukunda airfield, has crashed soon after taking off from an airstrip near Naivasha, Kenya earlier today.

A privately owned Cessna C210L Centurion, based at the Ukunda airfield, has crashed soon after taking off from an airstrip near Naivasha, Kenya earlier today. The aircraft carried the registration number 5Y-CKK and manufacturers serial number MSN 210-59950.

While one person was killed on impact, 5 others almost miraculously survived, one with reportedly very serious injuries, while the other four escaped with non-life threatening injuries.


Notably, a second aircraft also crashed on the same day in Kenya, this one belonging to the Kenya Police Wing, a helicopter of Augusta-Westland AW159 make, registered as 5Y-NPS, MSN 31717. The helicopter crashed along the Thika Highway near Mathare North / Nairobi.

The two pilots and two passengers thankfully managed to walk away from the substantially damaged helicopter with only minor injuries.
