Dirndls and lederhosen will be on display at Frankfurt Airport for four weeks starting on September 4, coinciding with the annual Oktoberfest season in Bavaria. In the non-Schengen zones, passengers can look forward to hearty food, traditional beer tent music and attractive shopping in the spirit of Germany’s most famous popular festival. There will be lots of fun in three marketplaces that are mainly visited by international travelers in the transit areas of Terminal 2 and in Pier Z and B of Terminal 1.

One of the highlights of this “Airport Oktoberfest” will be a beer keg tapping ceremony in the deutsch restaurant in Pier Z. Daily performances by Bavarian brass bands in the marketplaces, high strikers in the duty free shops and a large walk-through photo gallery with lots of amusing and interesting facts about the Oktoberfest will keep travelers entertained.

Numerous restaurants and bistros will also take them on a culinary journey through Bavaria with specialities including white sausages, traditional meatloaf, sauerkraut, giant soft pretzels and one-liter mugs of beer fresh from the tap.

The marketplaces will be festively decorated and well-stocked with a large range of merchandise for delightful shopping. Promoters wearing Bavarian costumes will also hand out special Oktoberfest coupons that passengers can immediately redeem in all participating shops and restaurants. The coupons are also available online fordownloading in advance.

The popular Frankfurt Airport Rewards program will of course also once again be caught up in the Oktoberfest along with a great online shopping experience.
