The annual convention of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) just recently concluded in Lucknow, India.

The just concluded 37th annual convention of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) held in the ancient-modern city of Lucknow generated much interest and information as 1,000 delegates heard from the Chief Minister Yogi.

The Minister spoke about what was in store by way of infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh and what has been achieved by way of visits to the various attractions in the state, including, of course, Ayodhya, which will be in news for the new temple complex and better connectivity.

The Chief Minister was repeatedly cheered by the delegates when he spoke of more airports and hotels in the state cities.

Over 24 crores of devotees visited Praygaraj during the 2019 Kumbh fair. Yogi said that Ayodhya tourism will see a growth of 10 times as the new temple gets completed.

Domestic tourism sees great growth

Yogi, who also heads a temple complex in Gorakhpur, emphasized that security and safety were getting top priority in the State. He asked the tour operators who were present in large numbers to bring many tourists to the state. The number of tourists has jumped in Varanasi, which is billed as the oldest city, from one crore a year.

Next year, the 38th convention will be held in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, it was announced. IATO experience shows that arrivals to the host state/city leads to a big boost in arrivals.

IATO’s Annual Convention is regarded as one of the most important events for tourism in India, and the event attracts strong participation of decision makers from the private sector, central and state governments, and brings in dignitaries from across the country and overseas. It is the main gathering of stakeholders in the tourism industry and the ground for forming strategies and policies for the coming year. This year’s annual event was held from December 18-19, 2022.
